First Alert Weather Day: Excessive heat this weekend
Triple digit heat index values likely
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - We’re designating both days this weekend as First Alert Weather Days for excessive heat. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s with heat index values upward of 105.
We’ll see mainly clear skies overnight and into tomorrow morning. Areas of fog will be possible tomorrow morning, some could be dense.
Lows tomorrow will be near 70.
Expect mostly sunny skies tomorrow with hot and humid conditions. Excessive heat looks likely tomorrow with heat index values as high as 100-105. Heat Advisories are in effect from 12-8 PM for areas near and west of the Illinois River. These locations will have the best chances of seeing heat index values of 105.
Sunday will be hot and humid again with heat index values upward of 100-105. A cold front will approach Central Illinois later in the day, bringing chances for showers and storms as early as Sunday afternoon. Rain chances will increase Sunday evening/night and into Monday as the front slides through.
At this time, severe weather is not expected but locally heavy rain may be possible.
In addition to rain chances, the cold front will also bring a break from the excessive heat and humidity. While it still may be a little muggy next week, it will be cooler with highs mainly in the mid 80s.
We may see an additional slight rain chance next Thursday, but for now it looks like most of next week will be dry.
Tune in this evening for your full First Alert 10 Day Forecast!
