Shawn Sollberger named Chief of Peoria Fire Department
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - The Peoria Fire Department has its new Chief.
Shawn Sollberger, a 24-year veteran of the department, was officially named Chief Wednesday by the Peoria City Manager.
Sollberger had served as Interim Chief since March, following the departure of former chief James Bachman.
He joined the department in 1998 and served as Captain, Battalion Chief, Division Chief of Operations and Assistant Fire Chief before receiving this promotion.
A lifelong Peorian, Sollberger attended Peoria High School and Illinois Central College before receiving his degree in Fire Administration and Fire Investigation/Analysis from Columbia Southern University.
“Shawn Sollberger’s 24 years of firefighting knowledge and background made him an excellent choice for this position,” City Manager Patrick Urich said. “We look forward to seeing him serve our community and lead the Peoria Fire Department with the highest standards of emergency service.”
Sollberger will earn an annual salary of $180,486.
