PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Our severe weather risk has ended for the day, but we still may see a few lingering showers and storms at times this evening through tomorrow afternoon. The next couple of days will still be warm and muggy, but heat index values will climb above 100 this weekend.

Tonight and Tomorrow:

Expect the chance for a few showers and storms at times this evening and tonight, but despite that there will still be lots of dry time. Severe weather is not expected, but any storms still could produce locally heavy rain.

It’ll be a warm and muggy night with lows near 70.

Highs tomorrow will rebound into the upper 80s with a few isolated showers and storms at times.

This Weekend:

Sunny weather is expected on Friday and Saturday. Highs on Friday will be near 90, but we’ll climb into the low to mid 90s this weekend. Heat index values may be as high as 100-105 over the weekend.

Right now, this looks like it will be right on the edge of First Alert Weather Day criteria for excessive heat. We’ll continue to keep an eye on just how hot things will get this weekend and make sure you’re updated with the latest.

Triple digit heat index values will be possible this weekend.
