PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Tomorrow will be a First Alert Weather Day for excessive heat and the chance for strong and severe storms during the afternoon and evening.

Tonight and Tomorrow:

Rain chances will taper off as we head into this evening, then we’ll see mainly clear skies overnight. It’ll be warm and muggy overnight with lows in the mid 70s.

Tomorrow will be a hot and humid day with highs in the mid 90s and heat index values as high as 100-105. Heat Advisories are in effect tomorrow for the southern two-thirds of our viewing area from noon until 7 PM.

A cold front will move through late tomorrow, bringing chances for showers and storms to Central Illinois tomorrow afternoon and evening. Some of these storms will be strong or severe capable of producing winds upward of 60+ mph and 1″ diameter hail. Heavy rain will also be possible at times which could lead to flash flooding.

Severe storms will be possible mainly between 2-7 PM, although we can’t rule out a few stronger storms lingering into tomorrow evening and early tomorrow night.

Later This Week:

A few lingering showers and storms may continue into Thursday morning, but rain chances should drop for the second half of the week.

It will still be hot for Thursday and Friday with highs near or just below 90, but it won’t be as hot or humid as what we’ll see tomorrow. Highs could rebound back into the low to mid 90s by the weekend.
