Family wants justice after 4-year-old punched at Peoria Speedway
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - A family wants justice after their 4-year-old was punched in the face at the Peoria Speedway. Witness video obtained by Heart of Illinois ABC shows what led up to the reported 100 person brawl Saturday night.
Video shows the moment a crash occurred on the track then fights broke out. The brawl then made it’s way up into the stands and that’s when 4-year-old Ryan was hit.
“He was screaming like he was being murdered basically,” said Leslie Carroll, grandmother of Ryan.
Carroll had taken her grandson to the Speedway for ‘Kid’s Night’, not expecting what would happen around 10:30 pm.
“It shouldn’t have happened at the Speedway with the children there. Not only my grandson, but other children too,” said Carroll.
Ryan was taken to the hospital that night. Carroll says he was tested for a possible concussion, but that test came back negative. She says he is recovered and back to normal.
“He’s okay, no broken bones or anything like that. I’m thankful,” said Carroll.
Peoria Speedway said on it’s Facebook it does not condone the behavior, punishments and penalties would be issued to those involved.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office says they have a photo of the suspect and no arrests have been made in this investigation.
Carroll says her family wants that person to be held responsible.
“I want justice done for my grandson. I want this guy caught, put in prison,” said Carroll.
