(Heart of Illinois ABC) - Manual basketball legends Derrick and David Booth hosted the Booth Basketball Academy this week at the RiverPlex in Peoria. The camp was free for all participants as the Booth brothers gave back to their hometown community.

In college basketball, Illinois State got a commitment from St. Joseph-Ogden star Ty Pence on Thursday. Pence is a 6-foot-6 wing in the Class of 2023 with bouncy athleticism and chose ISU over offers from Illinois, Bradley and Wake Forest among others.

In summer high school sports, both the Normal West 7-on-7 football league and the Illini Elite Summer Volleyball League wrapped up on Thursday.

And it was a special day of golf at Weaver Ridge on Thursday as friends, family and former players and students came together to honor the life of former Richwoods coach and teacher Rick Snarr at the Rick Snarr Memorial Golf Outing. Snarr was a coach and teacher for 36 years at Richwoods and coached football, boys and girls basketball and baseball.
