First Alert Weather Days through Wednesday
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - We’ll need to remain weather aware through the midweek as multiple hazards are likely over the next 24 to 48 hours. Dangerous heat is likely for Tuesday into Wednesday along with a conditional risk for severe weather.
Tuesday: Heat will be the main story for Tuesday’s forecast as heat and humidity quickly build. Daytime highs will reach the upper 90′s with muggy conditions. Once we factor in the humidity, heat index values in the lower triple digits will be likely for all areas across the region. Heat Advisories will be in effect area-wide from noon until 9 PM. Make sure to stay hydrated and limit time outdoors if possible. If you do need to be outdoors, make sure to drink plenty of water and take breaks as needed.
While most of us look to remain dry, we’ll have to keep a close eye on a few thunderstorms that will be possible in the afternoon and evening. If we do see any storms develop, an isolated strong to severe storm capable of producing strong winds, hail and locally heavy downpours cannot be ruled out.
Wednesday through Friday: A First Alert Weather Day is also in place for Wednesday as heat and storms chances continue. Wednesday will not be as hot, but daytime highs will still reach the mid 90′s. Heat index values around 100 degrees will also be possible. Similar to Tuesday, a few strong to severe storms could be possible. Additional storms will be possible Thursday and Friday, but the confidence to see any severe weather is not high enough yet.
Make sure to tune in this morning for the full 10 Day Forecast!
