Scattered storms to end to work week
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Showers and storms return for the end of the work week after several days dominated by sunny skies.
A cold front situated to our west early this morning will gradually move eastward throughout the day, bringing the chance for showers and thunderstorms into the region. You’ll likely need the rain gear through the afternoon as rain chances will increase throughout the day. Scattered showers and a few storms will start by as early as the mid morning before overspreading the region.
An isolated strong to severe storm will be possible for areas mainly along and to the south of the I-39 corridor. Primary threats include damaging winds and isolated hail. Heavy downpours will also be possible with any thunderstorm that should form. In terms of timing, the best window for severe weather will run from 1-8 PM.
We’ll see plenty of dry time through the weekend with mild temperatures. Active conditions will return for the 4th of July with scattered showers and storms possible.
