PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - After another quiet night, we’ll see a cold front move through tomorrow. This could bring a few showers and storms to the area, including an isolated risk for a strong or severe storm. Rain chances will drop this weekend, but thunderstorms and higher humidity will return next week.

Tonight:

We’ll see a few passing clouds overnight and into tomorrow morning. Lows tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 60s.

Tomorrow:

A few showers will be possible tomorrow morning through early tomorrow afternoon ahead of a cold front that will move through the area tomorrow afternoon.

Isolated thunderstorms will develop tomorrow afternoon into early tomorrow evening as the cold front passes through, mainly east of the Illinois River and south of Route 24. Not everyone will see a thunderstorm, but those that do may see a strong or severe storm capable of producing high winds, large hail and heavy rain.

A few isolated strong or severe storms may be possible tomorrow afternoon.

Fourth of July Weekend:

The cold front will stay to our south this weekend. This will keep us mainly dry, although it’s not totally impossible for a stray shower or storm to sneak in. Highs will be in the mid 80s on Saturday and upper 80s on Sunday.

Storms will be possible once again as early as Monday afternoon, although we may see better chances Monday evening into Monday night. We’ll continue to keep an eye on these because of their timing for Fourth of July celebrations and for any severe weather potential.

Next Week:

Periodic showers and storms will continue through Thursday of next week. As of right now, it looks like Monday and Thursday will have the best rain chances, although a few may also be possible on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Highs will rebound back to near 90 next week, but increased humidity will allow heat index values to climb into the 90s and possibly even above 100.

Tune in this evening for your full First Alert 10 Day Forecast!
