PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Ameren is doing their part to help veterans when it comes saving money on their energy bill.

Tuesday morning Goodwill on War Memorial Drive Peoria hosted Ameren Illinois with their Helping Heroes veterans event.

The goal was to introduce and give information to active and non-active military members, to provide more cost efficient energy for their homes and to save on their electricity bill.

One of the ways Ameren Illinois gives back is through their $100 grants for the vets’ bill.

“They paid the ultimate sacrifice. they defended our country. we wanted to make sure that we are showing support for their families,” says Abby Helm, the Community Relations Coordinator for Ameren Illinois, “showing support for them and we want to make sure we give back that is why it’s important to get out in front of our veteran customers and let them know what’s available to them.”

The benefits and enrollment are now available. For more information click here.
