Pence confident Republicans will take back America
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - A week before the Illinois Primary, former Vice President Mike Pence was the keynote speaker for the Peoria-Tazewell Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. About 650 people attended and warmly welcomed him.
Monday night’s event at the Peoria Civic Center was a who’s-who of Illinois Republicans.
“I think this may be one of the most important elections in the life of this nation,” Pence continued. “With your help and gods help, we’re going to take America back.”
He focused on endorsing GOP candidates, saying they will again win control of the U.S. House.
“Inflation is at 40 year high. Gasoline prices are up 75%. Wages are falling. Our economy is shrinking,” said Pence.
Pence did not reference being the focus of threatening chants on January 6th, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol, and he believes Republicans are on a roll with a vision for the future to win America back.
“I think Republicans have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Pence.
“The time has come for the Land of Lincoln to have a Republican governor and a Republican state house.” he added.
The crowd at every point supported Pence, even with standing ovations.
“The days between now and election day, let’s cast a positive vision for the future for the American people,” Pence said
“Just tell your neighbors and friends, this is the year,” the former VP said.
