(Heart of Illinois ABC) - Some of the Bloomington-Normal area’s best high school baseball seniors came together to compete in the Mike Brown Memorial All-Star Baseball games Monday night at The Corn Crib. The Intercity Stars took Game 1, 7-4 over the Area Stars. Bloomington’s Cam Anderson was the Intercity MVP while Eureka’s Matthew Montoya was the Area MVP. In Game 2, Intercity swept the night with a 13-8 win.

And Normal was also the epicenter of a great weekend of high school basketball this past weekend as some of the best teams and players from around the Midwest headed out to Normal West for the Midwest Crossroads Showcase. Dozens of college coaches were in attendance including Iowa’s Fran McCaffery, Wisconsin’s Greg Gard and Bradley’s Brian Wardle. New Illinois State head coach Ryan Pedon was also there for a big portion of the weekend. The first-year head man has placed an emphasis on recruiting the Midwest and local high school standouts have liked what they’ve seen from Pedon thus far.
