Excessive heat through this evening, a few isolated storms tonight
Locally heavy rain or gusty winds possible
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Our First Alert Weather Day continues through this evening as heat index values will likely remain near or above 100 through about dinnertime. A few storms will be possible tonight before we see a drop in temperatures for the rest of the week.
Heat Advisories remain in effect through 8 PM. Make sure you’re staying cool and hydrated!
A cold front will approach Central Illinois later this evening and into tonight. This will bring a few showers and storms to the area, especially near and west of the Illinois River. However, any showers and storms will be weakening as they move east.
The best chance for any severe storms will remain to our west, but locally heavy rain and/or gusty winds may be possible near and west of the Illinois River. The best timing for any showers and storms tonight will be between 9 PM and midnight.
Rain chances tonight will be about 30%, so not everyone will see a storm.
Later This Week:
We’ll remain hot for the second half of the work week, but thankfully it won’t be as hot as today. Highs will mainly reach the upper 80s tomorrow through Friday. Dew points will be closer to 60, which means that while it still may feel a little muggy at times, it won’t be as humid as today either.
Dry weather is expected until Friday night or Saturday morning. A few showers and storms will be possible this weekend, mainly on Saturday.
Tune in this evening for your full First Alert 10 Day Forecast!
