Heat and humidity return this week
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - We enjoyed plenty of sunshine and comfortable conditions for Father’s Day and Juneteenth, but heat will quickly return this week.
Monday will see the return of hot conditions as temperatures climb into the lower 90′s. Dew points will remain lower this afternoon, making the heat a bit more tolerable. Tuesday will be the hottest day this week, with highs in the mid to upper 90′s.

A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Tuesday as dangerous heat will be possible. Daytime highs will return to the upper 90′s with heat index values reaching the triple digits by the early afternoon. Areas along and to the west of the Illinois River will see the hottest conditions as a deeper level of atmospheric moisture arrives through the day. Make sure to limit time outdoors if possible. If you do need to be outdoors throughout the day, make sure to take plenty of breaks and to stay hydrated.
