PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Our gift to all the dads is perfect weather for Father’s Day! Great weather for outdoor activities whether it’s for barbequing for Father’s Day or in observance of Juneteenth. Plenty of sunshine will be on tap with morning temperatures in the low 60s and highs slightly warmer in the mid 80s. Winds will be from the south up to 10 mph, which will aid the slight warm up.

The warming trend continues as we start the work week. Highs Monday are back into the low 90s, and again seeing plenty of sunshine and dry time at least through Tuesday night. Tuesday will be the hottest day and our next First Alert Weather Day, because dangerous heat is expected with heat index values back into the triple digits. Staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks in the heat is especially important to avoid heat related illnesses. Reminder, heat is the #1 cause of weather-related deaths, that’s why it should be taken seriously.

Tuesday: Highs in the upper 90s, feel-like temperatures above 100.

Rain chances return Tuesday night and each day through the second half of the work week as we’ll see passing waves of energy that will bring the chances for showers and storms each afternoon. Temperatures will remain above average in the low 90s through the rest of the week.
