PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Finally, cooler and drier air has set in across central Illinois and will continue to do so as we head into Saturday. Lows will fall near 60 and highs climb into the low 80s! It will be sunny and comfortable thanks to light northwesterly flow over the region. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 80s for Father’s Day and Juneteenth, and still seeing plenty of sunshine and dry weather.

Quickly, temperatures rise back into the 90s for majority of next week. Tuesday will be the hottest and most oppressive day as highs will be in the upper 90s and low 100s. Feel-like temperatures will likely peak up t0 110, so we’re issuing Tuesday as our next First Alert Weather Day. Drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade will be especially important to avoid heat related illnesses.

Highs Monday and Wednesday look to be in the low 90s, so we have refrained from issuing First Alert Weather Days for these days as they fall below the criteria (Criteria: highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat index values above 100). Next chance of showers and storms looks to arrive late Tuesday night into Wednesday.
