Car accident involving extrication sends four to the hospital
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - First responders say four people were hospitalized, and jaws of life were used to remove two from a car, after an accident Saturday afternoon.
Just after 3:00 p.m., Peoria firefighters and paramedics responded to the 3000 block of North University Street - near Steak ‘N Shake.
Firefighters say upon arrival, they found a vehicle on its side with two people trapped inside. A second vehicle, also with two people inside, was in the parking lot of a nearby business.
Crews stabilized the overturned vehicle and used hydraulic cutters and air chisels to gain access through the roof.
The two people trapped inside were removed and transported to a local hospital.
Firefighters say a separate crew on scene helped two people in the second vehicle, and both of them were also transported to a local hospital.
The condition of the people involved in the accident is currently unknown.
