A few strong storms possible this afternoon
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Active conditions will return the next couple of days as multiple rounds of rain and storms pass through the Heart of Illinois.
Wednesday Through Friday: A warm front will lift north throughout the day, bringing rain, warmer temperatures and gusty conditions to the region. Periodic showers and storms will be possible Wednesday and Thursday before rain comes to an end Friday morning. While we carry high rain chances through Friday morning, the days won’t be total washouts with plenty of dry time.
The main focus through this forecast period will be Wednesday afternoon and evening. A few strong to severe storms will be possible, mainly from 2-8 PM. If any severe storms do form, strong winds and damaging hail may be possible. An isolated tornado cannot be entirely ruled out either.
The Next Big Thing: Heat and humidity will quickly return after our rain clears just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. It’ll be a hot, summerlike weekend with temperatures reaching the upper 80′s to lower 90′s for Memorial Day. As of now, it looks like it’ll be dry over the extended weekend.
Make sure to tune in this morning for the full 10 Day Forecast!
