PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Demolition continues Monday on the remaining damaged silos at BioUrja after silo “74″ came down Sunday.
Interim Peoria Fire Chief Shawn Sollberger says the demolition was successful - while also needing nitrogen gas mitigation due to the smoldering fire.
He says it was necessary for firefighters to wet down the smoldering silo and grain after the silo came down.
The fire department will remain at BioUrja until the scene is deemed safe for the community.
