WASHINGTON (Heart of Illinois ABC) - A Washington art studio gave visitors the unique chance to paint in the presence of some furry friends Sunday afternoon.

Art at the Bodega hosted their ‘sloth event’ Sunday afternoon, bringing ‘Xena’ the sloth - along with animals like turtles, rabbits, ducks, and more - to join families as they work on an art project together. Kids got the chance to pet and even hold some of the creatures, who usually pay a visit once a month.

With many families returning to these events, organizers create a new activity for them to work on every time. They say the animals keep bringing people back for the chance to be a part of something unique.

‘The whole atmosphere is just excitement because...a lot of these animals people have never seen before, never touched before,” says clay manager Breanna Hubbard. “I mean, how often do you get to pet a sloth?”

Tickets were $50 per person, with all 65 spots selling out. If you missed out this weekend, the business plans to host several more animal appearances throughout the summer.
