UPDATE (6 P.M.) Authorities say traffic is moving again in both directions after a ‘major gas leak’ on Knoxville, between War Memorial and Forrest Hill.
UPDATE 4:22 P.M. - Northbound lanes of Knoxville have reopened.
Southbound lanes remain closed as Ameren makes repairs.
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Traffic between War Memorial and Forrest Hill on Knoxville Avenue has been shut down due to a major gas leak, according to the Peoria Emergency Communications Center.
The center urges motorists to seek an alternate route of travel.
