More sunshine Sunday, but remaining cooler
Drying out for the second half of the weekend
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Rain showers will come to an end near midnight tonight and skies will become partly cloudy. Lows will be cool in the mid to upper 40s. We’ll have mostly sunny skies on Sunday as sunshine will be filtered occasionally through high and some middle level clouds. Highs will only climb into the mid 60s but weather will remain quiet thanks to broad high pressure over the region.

Monday will remain mostly sunny, quiet, and cool with highs only in the mid to upper 60s. Wet weather looks to return to the forecast midweek, and that will be The Next Big Thing to impact your week. A system looks to move in Tuesday and linger across the area through Friday. As of now, expecting a few showers Tuesday afternoon into the evening, then heading into the overnight expecting more widespread and steadier rainfall through Wednesday morning.

Looks like some dry air could move in Wednesday late morning and help break up the rain, but scattered showers will likely linger for the rest of the day. Could see new rainfall amounts after Wednesday morning up to half an inch. As the system slowly departs, there looks to be a chance for a few showers Thursday as well. Friday we look to dry out as we head into a warmer weekend.
