Highlights from postseason soccer, softball, baseball, tennis and track

(Heart of Illinois ABC) - Friday night was regional championship night across the area with soccer, softball and baseball teams taking home regional titles. In soccer, Morton topped Metamora 6-0 to win the 2A Metamora Regional. Elsewhere, Peoria Notre Dame beat Geneseo 1-0 to win the 2A Geneseo Regional. The Potters and Irish will meet in a 2A Peoria Notre Dame sectional semifinal next week. In 1A soccer, Normal U-High topped Bloomington Central Catholic 1-0 in a sectional final. The Pioneers advance to the State Elite 8.

In softball, Illini Bluffs continues their quest for back-to-back state titles. The Tigers won the 1A Lewistown Regional championship over Triopia. We got a terrific title game at the 2A IVC Regional as Tremont topped the host Grey Ghosts 2-1 in 9 innings. Maia Lorengo struck out 19 for the Turks while Katie Petran struck 18 for IVC. Audrey Parn scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Also in 2A, Brimfield won the Farmington Regional with a 5-0 win over Knoxville.

In baseball, Brimfield beat Midwest Central to win their own regional while IVC beat Macomb to win the Bombers’ regional.

In tennis, Dunlap won their own sectional.
