St. Jude looks for more runners
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Still months away, but there is concern that the St. Jude Telethon is trailing behind other years, on the satellite run portion. But dozens rallied to sign more runners up at Kelleher’s Downtown Peoria, Thursday night.
Over the past 41 years, St. Jude Runs have raised more than $71 million for the children’s research hospital.
This year, organizers are excited to see all the people celebrate their hard work come race day, while raising money for St. Jude.
“We’re really working all year long to make this work. And the few days ahead of time are hot. they’re sweaty, everyone’s tired, but that all just goes away when we come across that bridge and we’re running into Peoria,” said run coordinator, Ryan Beck.
Organizers say the sooner you sign up the better as the run and telethon kick off August 6th.
