Rain likely Wednesday morning, strong storms possible later this week
Summer-like weather returns to the forecast
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Our weather will stay quiet through tomorrow, but multiple chances for showers and storms are on the way later this week.
We’ll see mainly clear skies this evening and tonight. It’ll be comfortable tomorrow morning with lows in the mid 50s.
Tomorrow and Wednesday:
Tomorrow will start sunny, but expect increasing clouds throughout the day. Highs tomorrow will be on either side of 80 with the best chance for 80s coming for locations south of I-74.
A few stray showers and storms will be possible late tomorrow, but expect better chances for showers and a few storms late tomorrow night into Wednesday morning. Locally heavy rain and gusty winds may be possible at times.
Rain could last as late as the early to mid afternoon on Wednesday, but we should begin to dry out after that. Rainfall totals could reach upward of 0.5-1″ by Wednesday afternoon.
The Next Big Thing:
We may see a few isolated storms later in the day on Thursday, but expect a better chance for showers and storms on Friday. Strong and severe storms will be possible, but this risk is conditional on the timing of the front. If the front comes through Friday night or Saturday morning instead, that could help to lower our severe weather risk.
However, if the front moves through Friday afternoon and evening as some forecast models are suggesting, we could see high winds, large hail and possibly a few tornadoes.
We’ll continue to watch the latest forecast models for new information and update you with the latest.
Tune in this evening for your full First Alert 10 Day Forecast!
