PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Humidity will finally begin to decrease after the hot, summerlike conditions the last few days. Friday will still be warm with highs in the mid to upper 80′s, but it will be more comfortable thanks to lower humidity.

The main focus for Friday’s forecast will be the chance for a few strong to severe storms in the evening. A cold front is positioned in western Iowa this morning that will serve as a driver to this evening’s storm chances. This front will move east slowly throughout the day. A few showers are possible this morning as the remnants of a storm system pass, but most will remain dry under mostly clear skies.

Our chance for storms will build in the late afternoon into the evening as the front arrives. The best chance for severe weather will be to our west and closer to the Mississippi River, but a few strong to severe storms are still possible locally. In our area, the best chance for severe weather will be along and to the west of the Illinois River. High winds will be the main risk with any severe storms. Heavy rain will also be possible, as storms will be slow moving once they form.
