Summer heat continues for now, a few strong storms possible Friday
Rain chances will continue into this weekend
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - We set a new record high in Peoria today. While we probably won’t set a new record tomorrow, it still will be hot and humid. Thunderstorm chances return to the forecast later in the day on Friday with additional showers and storms expected at times this weekend.
Tonight and Tomorrow:
We’ll see a few lingering clouds overnight. Once again it will be a warm and muggy night with lows in the low 70s.
Tomorrow’s weather should be very similar to today’s with highs near 90 and heat index values as high as the mid to upper 90s, especially near and west of the Illinois River. Dry weather is expected tomorrow, although an isolated shower or storm can’t be completely ruled out.
The Next Big Thing:
Chances for showers and storms return to the forecast Friday evening into Friday night as a cold front approaches us from the west. Right now, it looks like a few storms locally could be strong with high winds and heavy rain. The best chance for severe weather will be closer to the Mississippi River.
A few storms may continue into Saturday morning, but otherwise Saturday’s weather looks dry. Another round of showers and storms will be possible on Sunday.
Tune in this evening for your full First Alert 10 Day Forecast!
