PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Our blast of summer-like heat continues for the midweek with more hot and humid conditions in store.

Conditions will be muggy this morning with dew points running in the lower 70′s. Temperatures will also be warm this morning with most running in the mid to lower 70′s through the morning drive.

We’ll steadily climb back into the upper 80′s to lower 90′s by the afternoon with more record to near-record warmth likely. When we factor in the humidity, heat indices will push the triple digits.

A moderate atmospheric cap is in place over the region, but strong forcing will be capable of creating an isolated storm or two this afternoon. While it is not likely, it cannot entirely be ruled out. Any storm would be capable of producing localized heavy downpours before dissipating. While a stray storm or two is possible, it will not be enough to warrant taking the rain gear with you, as they will be very isolated.

Our Next Big Thing in the forecast will be the chance for storms heading into the weekend. A system looks to bring a line of thunderstorms into the Heart of Illinois late Friday into early Saturday morning. Exact timing remains unclear, but most of the storms look to pass after the dinner hours. A strong to severe storm cannot be ruled out.

Make sure to tune in this morning for the full 10 Day Forecast!
