‘Grief is setting in’ a day after fire destroys beloved McLean County burger joint
HUDSON (Heart of Illinois ABC) - The owner of Green Gables in Hudson says the family is devastated.
Amy Tague told our newspartners WJBC that the Green Gables restaurant has been in her family since her grandparents bought the property in 1952 - and was the last bit she had of them.
Monday afternoon’s fire burned the Hudson landmark to the ground.
No one was hurt. Everyone inside was able to make it out.
Tague says the fire started in the compressor room but fire investigators have not yet released the cause.
“My dad thought if he had one more fire extinguisher he could have gotten it before the fire trucks got there, but he had used all the ones that we had and then it just kind of started overtaking the building,” she said.
She says the goal is to rebuild.
