Morning showers and storms Sunday
Remaining breezy
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - A deep low pressure system off towards our west will sweep a cold front across the area overnight into Sunday morning. Showers and scattered thunderstorms will develop ahead and along the front. Best window for a few thunderstorms looks to be between 4 AM and 11 AM, so you may be woken up thanks to some rumbles of thunder. Winds will remain breezy from the southwest at 15-20 mph and gusting up to 30 mph at times.

Areas along and east of the I-55 corridor are in a level one threat for severe weather. Main threats will be damaging wind gusts and small hail. Shear is strong, so can’t rule out a tornado, however the best chances for any severe storms remain east of our viewing area. The scattered showers and storms come an end in the early afternoon and we will dry out for the second half of your Sunday.

A dry stretch is expected for much of this week, not seeing our next rain chances until Friday night into Saturday. The cold front will return below average temperatures for much of this week with highs in the fifties.
