(Heart of Illinois ABC) - A beautiful night of spring weather brought us plenty of highlights on Thursday. In a boys lacrosse rivalry game, Washington beat Dunlap 17-7. In girls lacrosse, Bloomington-Normal topped Plainfield North 18-8.

In baseball, Washington swept their two-game series with Morton thanks to a 6-4 win that keeps the Panthers undefeated in conference play. They’re tied for first place with Metamora who also stayed unbeaten in the Mid-Illini with an 11-1 win over Limestone.

In Big 12 baseball, Normal Community and Normal West slugged it out in classic pitchers’ duel. The Ironmen’s Chase Wiese struck out six in 7 scoreless innings for NCHS. The Wildcats countered with ISU commit Jesse Courtney who fanned 10 in 8 shutout innings. Courtney also drew the game-winning, bases-loaded walk in the top of the 10th inning to give the Wildcats a 1-0 win.

In softball, Metamora beat Washington 6-4 in a great Mid-Illini game. East Peoria stayed unbeaten in conference with a 3-0 win over Pekin. Emily Compton tossed her 4th straight shutout and struck out 13.

In soccer, Dunlap rattled off 5 unanswered goals to beat Normal Community 5-1. Lily Sutter had a hat-trick for the Eagles. Meanwhile, Morton toughed out a 1-1 tie with Geneseo in non-conference action.
