Riding the bus for free Wednesday as CityLink celebrates Lilly Passenger Appreciation Day
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - No masks and free rides, that’s what CityLink offered all day today. It’s the 13th Annual Passenger Appreciation Day, honoring Jerome Lilly, a former general manager of CityLink who passed away back in 2007.
The transit agency gives free rides to the public every year on April 20th. This year, CityLink wants to especially thank passengers for their patience and support while they make improvements.
Emily Watson, CityLink Marketing Coordinator, said “Passenger Appreciation Day is one way we can thank our passengers for riding, for supporting us and being loyal. We’ve made some changes to our routes in the beginning of March, and so this is a way for us to say thank you for understanding those changes, because we know that for some people it took a while to adjust to it.”
Guzman added that blood supply over the passed month has improved and is closer to being stable. However, blood is still perishable and is always needed.
Also, this Friday is Earth Day and riding the bus is an environmentally friendly way to get around, so keep that in mind when traveling Friday.
