Washington baseball beats Morton in walk-off nail biter
(Heart of Illinois ABC) - Both Washington and Morton baseball entered Tuesday night undefeated in Mid-Illini play. Only Washington walked out of Tuesday night unbeaten. The Panthers topped the Potters 1-0 in eight innings. Caleb Wudtke scored the walk-off run for Washington. Easton Harris had 15 strikeouts for Washington. Tate Roley had 13 K’s for the Morton.
Elsewhere in the Mid-Illini, Metamora stayed unbeaten in conference with a 4-3 win over Dunlap. AJ Stone had the walk-off base knock for the Redbirds in the 7th inning. In the Big 12, Normal Community beat rival Normal West 3-2 in 9 innings. Normal U-High cruised to a win over Decatur Eisenhower.
In softball, East Peoria stayed unbeaten in Mid-Illini play with a 9-0 win over Morton. Emily Compton tossed another shutout with 14 strikeouts for the Raiders. Meanwhile, Metamora beat Pekin 12-4 behind 3 home runs from Kayla Pacha and another two from Hannah Tellor.
In soccer, Morton beat Metamora 5-0 while Dunlap blanked East Peoria 7-0. In the Big 12, Peoria Notre Dame edged Normal Community 1-0. Casey Rodgers scored the lone goal for the Irish.
