PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - After a bit of sunshine and dry time Wednesday, another round of active conditions will return for the end of the work week.

Clouds will quickly build from the northwest this morning as we remain under the influence of a low pressure system. We’ll see some sunshine this morning, mainly during the morning drive before turning overcast. You may want to have the rain gear ready for the afternoon, as scattered showers will build across the region.

These showers will continue into the evening and into Friday morning along with breezy conditions. Winds will be similar to what we saw Wednesday afternoon. Gusts up to 30 miles per hour will be possible. Temperatures will be cooler today, with highs in the mid to lower 40′s.

Lows will dip to the lower 30′s, with some of us dropping below the freezing point. Scattered light snow and rain will be possible through Friday morning as a result of the colder temperatures. While some of us will see snow, don’t expect any major accumulations. A light dusting is possible on grassy or elevated surfaces, otherwise, snow should melt upon contact with the ground due to warmer ground temperatures.

We’ll enjoy some dry time through the weekend before storm chances increase next week. Make sure to tune in this morning for the full 10 Day Forecast!
