Strong storms possible today
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Widespread rain and storms return for our midweek’s forecast.
Showers continue to overspread the region early this morning. It’ll be a good idea to have the umbrella or rain gear at hand, as we’ll be dealing with wet conditions through much of the day.
A main line of showers and storms will pass during the late morning into the early afternoon. A few strong to severe storms will be possible at this time. The best time frame for any severe weather will run from 9 AM until 3 PM.
Our primary threat will be strong winds with gusts up to 50-60 miles per hour. As a result of the potential for strong winds, counties along I-55 have been placed under a Wind Advisory that will be in effect from 9 AM until 9 PM. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible. 1″ or more rainfall throughout the day is likely for several areas across the region. Be mindful of potentially flooded roadways later in the day due to the road.
Lingering showers will continue into Thursday as this system exits the region followed by dry and sunnier conditions Friday.
Tune in this morning for the full 10 Day Forecast!
