Rainy end of the week
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Get the rain gear ready as widespread rain arrives for the end of the work week!
Scattered showers will build from the southwest this morning as our next system approaches. As we head through the morning drive into the late morning, rain will quickly overspread the region. Steady rain can be expected for a good portion of the workday. A few localized heavy downpours will be possible including a few rumbles of thunder, mainly during the afternoon and evening.
Temperatures this afternoon will trend about 10 degrees colder than the last few days, but still be near average with highs in the upper 40′s to lower 50′s.
Rain will gradually come to an end through Saturday as this system exits. Temperatures will run in the 30′s Saturday morning, leading to the chance for a few flurries or wintry mix. The best chance for a wintry mix or flurries will run west of the Illinois River. Any mix we would see would not create any accumulations as it will melt on contact with the ground.
Spring arrives on Sunday, and the end of the weekend will be a treat. Expect plenty of sunshine and highs in the 60′s after lower 50′s on Saturday.
Make sure to tune in this morning for the full 10 Day Forecast!
