MORTON (Heart of Illinois ABC) - A new, collaborative effort to connect the ag industry with the latest developments and people got underway Friday.

This was the initial meeting of “Ag-Tech Connect”.

Peoria’s Economic Development Council, OSF Healthcare, Distillery Labs, Bradley University and other groups attended.

One business owner says while the internet is great for research, there’s no substitute for in-person sharing with like-minded people looking for a sustainable future, here.

“It totally broadens your horizons,” said Dan Gudeman, President of Early Bird Feed & Fertilizer. “I didn’t know someone was working on that. I didn’t know that existed. I thought that was more futuristic but there’s actually somebody doing it today.”

He believes this initiative can help with every facet, from livestock to farming to store owners.

The ag-tech connect group plans to meet 4 times a year.
