PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - It will be a little warmer today and any relief from the brutal cold is a plus in my book. We’ll start off Friday very cold, around 3-degrees when you send the kids off to school. Highs today should reach the mid-20s with plenty of sunshine. Wind chill values will hover between 0 and 10-degrees. Tonight, lows will drop to the low teens and the wind will begin to pick up.

Looking ahead to your weekend, we’ll warm up a bit more to the low-30s on Saturday. The caveat is snow chances on both Saturday and Sunday. This won’t be major accumulating snow but don’t be surprised to see a half-inch of the white stuff outside when you wake up on Sunday morning. Though it won’t be a major snowfall, that amount could still impact travel so take the necessary precautions.

Looking well ahead of the forecast, the Climate Prediction Center is hinting at the Heart of Illinois getting some slightly warmer temperatures on a more consistent basis. Time will tell if this is the case.
