Illinois State overcomes 20-point deficit to knock off Bradley
NORMAL (Heart of Illinois ABC) - The I-74 Rivalry renewed Sunday night at Redbird Arena. The 2021-22 seasons first edition was a game of runs, with Bradley taking a 35-15 lead in the first half, but Illinois State rallying to win the game 74-65.
The Redbirds outscored the Braves by 23 points in the second half, and their 20-point comeback was the second-largest deficit comeback win in program history.
Illinois State was led once again by Antonio Reeves, who scored a game-high 24 points. Josiah Strong added in 14 points, while Kendall Lewis and Howard Fleming Jr. each scored 11. Bradley got big performances from Terry Roberts and Rienk Mast in the losing effort. Roberts scored 22 points, while Mast had 17 points and 10 rebounds, his sixth double-double of the season.
Illinois State (9-8, 2-2) will play at Missouri State on Wednesday, January 19. Bradley (8-10,2-4) also plays again on Wednesday night on the road, taking on Drake.
