Temporary warm-up to start the week
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - We have a relatively quiet week ahead of us in the Heart of Illinois, once again after an eventful weekend. Tonight, there will be some scattered flurries that will move through, they might even be over by the time you read this. Tonight, we will see temperatures drop to the low-20s, which is warmer than we saw last night. It will likely be breezy overnight.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected for M.L.K Day with highs right near freezing. It will likely be breezy as it is winter and always is pretty much. Not much else to talk about really, lows tomorrow night will drop to the low-20s again.
Tomorrow does begin a short, two-day, warming trend in the Heart of Illinois with highs Tuesday expected to reach the low-40s. It will be mostly cloudy again but the mild temperatures will make up for that. As always, it will likely be breezy.
Colder than average temperatures are expected across much of the eastern half of the U.S. and the Heart of Illinois is no exception. The real problem area is over the Carolinas and down into Alabama where extremely cold temperatures are likely in the 6-10 day outlook.
