Normal Community, Washington win basketball thrillers, Washington hosts Dubtown Throwdown

(Heart of Illinois ABC) - It was a night of thrillers on Friday night in high school basketball. In a battle of state-ranked teams, Normal Community pulled out a last-second 47-46 win over Peoria Notre Dame at The Kitchen. Trey Redd hit the go-ahead shot for the Ironmen. Elsewhere in the Big 12, Peoria High edged Normal West, Richwoods topped Danville and Bloomington beat Champaign Centennial.

In the Mid-Illini, Washington trailed Metamora by one with under 15 seconds to go, but the Panthers got the ball up the court and found Jake Stewart for the game-winning triple with 2.7 seconds to go and Washington held on to win 43-39. Drew Lewis had 16 points for the Panthers. Elsewhere in the Mid-Illini, Morton beat Limestone, East Peoria topped Pekin and Dunlap beat Canton.

In the Heart of Illinois Conference, El Paso-Gridley rolled past Fieldcrest and Dee-Mack topped Tremont. At the ICAC Tournament, Elmwood beat North Fulton.

Washington wrestling beat Tremont at the Dubtown Throwdown.
