PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) -Former McLean County piano teacher Aaron Parlier, convicted of sexually assaulting a young student, has learned his fate.

Friday, Parlier, who is 40 years old, was sentenced to 450 years in prison.

He received 15 years for each count of child pornography and a $2,000 fine for each count, along with 30 years on each count of predatory criminal sexual assault.

In October, Parlier was found guilty on 20 counts, 10 of sexual assault of a child and 10 of child pornography production, all involving the same victim.

He faced 120 to 900 years in prison. McLean County State’s Attorney Don Knapp recommended Judge Casey Costigan sentence Parlier to the maximum of 900 years.

Knapp said he’s proud of the victim for coming forward and working with the Bloomington Police Department.

“Winning the case was less important than the victims being satisfied and putting forth letting the community know what great work the Bloomington police department did,” Knapp said.

Charges are pending involving five more young students, with a trial for the second alleged victim scheduled next month.

Parlier faces a mandatory life sentence if he’s convicted in the second case.

His defense lawyer is filing to withdraw from future cases.
