PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - High school hoops on Monday featured four area state ranked teams in action and one of those teams falling in a huge upset.

In girls basketball, the Class 2A #6 Fieldcrest Lady Knights perfect season is officially over. Eureka beat Fieldcrest 48-44 behind 26 points from Ellie Cahill and 14 points from Ashley Nohl, while Kaitlin White had 19 points for Fieldcrest. Following the big win, Eureka Head Coach Jerry Prina and his team were ecstatic to knock off the Lady Knights.

“Hornets!!! To do it against the number 1 seeded Fieldcrest Knights, how about that?? Excellent job, stay focused and have a good practice tomorrow, awesome job,” said Eureka Head Coach Jerry Prina to his team after the win.

Other girls teams playing Monday, Class 1A #1 Brimfield beat Farmington 55-28 behind 21 points from Ella Lune and 11 from Olivia Kappes. Class 4A #8 Normal Community beat Peoria Manual 56-11.

In boys basketball, Class 1A #6 Peoria Christian beat North Fulton 67-38 in the ICAC Tournament. Malachi Persinger had 15 points and Wes Hunt scored 14 for the Chargers, while Stryker Strait had 29 for North Fulton. The Elmwood Trojans fell to Rowva/Williamsfield 62-56 in the same tournament, despite 15 points from Layne Durst and 14 points from Victor Lenzi.
