1 person temporarily displaced after apartment fire Wednesday morning

PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - 1 adult is receiving assistance from the Red Cross after being temporarily displaced by a fire in an apartment Wednesday.

At 9:50 a.m., the Bloomington Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 800 block of East Jefferson.

Crews made entry and determined that smoke was coming from behind the drywall in the apartment, where fire was found in the wall space.

Crews were able to quickly open up the surrounding area and extinguish the fire.

Damage to the apartment was minimal and no injuries were reported.

No cause or damage estimate is available.

The fire is currently under investigation.
