High School Hoops 12-27: Holiday Tournament Edition

(Heart of Illinois ABC) - The first night of many area holiday basketball tournaments tipped off Monday night.

The State Farm Holiday Classic is the largest tournament in the state and the teams were ready to go Monday. In the large school boys bracket, Normal Community beat North Chicago 59-29, Peoria High beat Bradley-Bourbonnais 61-51, Metamora beat Springfield 36-30, and East St. Louis beat Normal U-High 69-45. In the small school boys bracket, El Paso-Gridley beat Annawan 62-31 and East Dubuque beat Bloomington Central Catholic 50-47. In the large school girls bracket, Morton beat Bloomington 60-40 and Washington beat Rochester 52-32. To view all of the scores at the State Farm Classic you can click here.

In the Pekin Insurance Holiday Tournament Morton beat Peoria Richwoods 50-48 in overtime, Lake Zurich beat Pekin 52-40, and Chicago Mt. Carmel beat Limestone 94-85.

In the Princeville Holiday Tournament the Princes beat Henry 56-32, Elmwood beat Peoria Heights 61-42, Midland beat Galva 83-35, and in the girls tournament in Princeville Tremont beat Princeville 61-56.

In the Manual Holiday Tournament the Peoria High girls picked up wins over East Peoria and Chatham Glenwood to advance to the semifinals.
