Metamora girls win first game against Morton since 2010

(Heart of Illinois ABC) - It was another jam-packed of high school hoops on Friday. In the Mid-Illini, Metamora had a statement win in a 62-42 victory against Morton. Elsewhere in the conference Washington outlasted Pekin 41-40 in double overtime and Limestone beat Canton 54-36.

In the Big 12, two games pitted a Peoria school versus a Normal school. State-ranked Normal Community topped Peoria Richwoods while Peoria Notre Dame got one back for the River City with a win over Normal West.

In small schools basketball, El Paso-Gridley stayed perfect with a win over Lexington. Peoria Christian did the same with a win over North Fulton. Lewistown also remained unbeaten with a victory at Illini Bluffs.

In girls hoops, it was an historic night for Metamora as the state-ranked Redbirds beat Morton for the first time in 10 years with a 46-43 win at Toepke Gym.
