(Heart of Illinois ABC) - Thursday night brought us a marquee matchup in girls high school basketball as state-ranked Normal Community visited Washington in a Big 12-Mid-Illini showdown. In this go-around it was the Big 12 that came out on top as the Iron picked up an impressive 51-45 win. Elsewhere, Fieldcrest rolled to a 13-0 start with a 54-16 win over Ridgeview. Other winners on the night included Eureka over Farmington, Bloomington Central Catholic over Pontiac and Princeville over Lewistown.

Thursday night also saw the IESA crown a pair of 8th grade girls basketball state champions from the Heart of Illinois. In Class 3A, Washington Middle came back from a five-point 4th quarter deficit to top previously unbeaten Pleasant Plains 33-30. And in Class 4A, Dunlap Valley Middle capped off a perfect 27-0 season with a 41-30 win over previously undefeated Quincy.
