PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey and running mate Stephanie Trussell made a stop at Kelleher’s in Peoria Tuesday.

Bailey told those in attendance how things like high taxes and fear of personal safety are issues that are pushing a large number of people out of Illinois -- and that’s something he and Trussell intend to fix.

There are five other Republican candidates for governor -- but Bailey is confident he has what it takes to break through.

“When there’s a need, when there’s a problem,” he said. “We take care of the problem and I don’t back down.”

“That’s what separates me from everybody else.”

Bailey and Trussell also plan to push back against any statewide mask mandates.

They are running with the idea to get “the right people” in charge of state agencies.
