Motorcyclist uninjured after truck drags motorcycle several blocks downtown
UPDATE 4:24 P.M. - The Peoria Fire Department says the motorcyclist was uninjured and refused treatment and transport to the hospital.
A fire department release said firefighters arrived on scene to the rear end of the trailer of the semi on flames “likely from dragging the motorcycle for several blocks.”
It took around 1,500 gallons of water to put out the fire from two engines and a truck company.
Damage is estimated at $30,000.
The road is now open, according to the emergency communications center.
UPDATE 3:13 P.M. - Peoria Police information officer Semome Roth say the accident was caused by a motorcycle pinned underneath a semi-trailer.
After the accident happened, the semi-driver was unaware of the motorcycle underneath.
No injuries have been reported.
PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) - An accident has closed a stretch of Washington Street in Downtown Peoria, between Main and Edmund streets.
The Peoria Firefighters Local 50 says on Facebook that firefighters on the scene of a motor vehicle accident and semi-tractor trailer fire near Washington and Liberty.
The public is asked to use caution and to avoid the area.
