PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) -Peoria Police on Friday identified a suspect and asked for the public’s help to find a suspect in the shooting death of an 18-year old man late on Thanksgiving morning.

Police said they’re looking for Martarius J. McGee, 24, for shooting to death Matthew C. Smith of Peoria, who became the city’s 33rd homicide victim this year.

A Shot Spotter alert indicated five rounds were fired about 11:05 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Thrush Avenue.

Police said McGee is a black male, approximately 6 feet, 1 inch tall, with long black hair and blonde tips, and brown eyes.

McGee is considered armed and dangerous, and if he’s seen, the public should not approach McGee and immediately call police.

Anyone with information about the homicide are asked to call Peoria Police at 309-673-4521. The Crime Stoppers organization, at 309-673-9000, accepts tips from people wishing to remain anonymous.
